Description
I took this photo in The Black Country Living Museum which is a village preserved as it was around the early 1900's. People dress up in period costumes and tell you what life was like back then. The reason I took the photo was that my Grandmother used to have an identical fireplace in her home, where I was born in the 1940's. The fire warmed two little ovens on either side and the kettle boiled on the hob, She used to put a brick in the oven to get warm and then wrapped it in a towel to use as a hot water bottle. Those were the days.

Thanks so cool, that your mom had the same fireplace, and it's amazing, and so is this scene. It's like going back in time, I love it Brian!! l/f

Fabulous image, Brian (love your detail and intricate shading!) ... and also awesome story!!!! I would love to have seen this amazing fireplace, too!!!! I have very fond memories of my own grandmother's wood-fueled stove ... I have a memory of cast iron and maybe porcelain? Great and evocative work of art, awesome as always!!! l/f and t
