Description
During The Second World War in Britain, many young children were evacuated from the big cities and sent into more rural areas to live with complete strangers, to save them from the German bombing raids. This little girl was at a re-enactment event and she was dressed in the style of the 40's. Note the label on her coat, which would have her name on and the address of the place she was going to and coming from. She is also hugging her favourite Teddy bear and carrying her little case with all her belongings in.

Revisiting this wonderful artwork. It could almost be a still from a movie. Great use of light and shade and the little girl's expressive face.
Brian Tarr replied:
Thanks for coming back Linda, I had a lot of success with this in my Club competitions, glad you like it.

Stunning work, and light! The fear and loneliness expressed in her face is wonderful. Brain one of my professors at the university was one of these children who was sent from Germany, to England and then her final destination was Canada. She never saw her family again, and was adopted by the Canadian family. L/F

I love this image Brian! You've created a wonderful setting and mood, the little girl has such a look of sadness on her face. The lighting and toning are terrific too. Great work! L/F

Tremendous feeling in this image. It reminds me of some of Norman Rockwell's work.
Brian Tarr replied:
Wow, I am a big fan of Norman Rockwell so that is praise indeed Norman, thank you very much.
