Revisiting this wonderful artwork. It could almost be a still from a movie. Great use of light and shade and the little girl's expressive face.

Stunning work, and light! The fear and loneliness expressed in her face is wonderful. Brain one of my professors at the university was one of these children who was sent from Germany, to England and then her final destination was Canada. She never saw her family again, and was adopted by the Canadian family. L/F

Brian Tarr replied:

What a great story she will have Carol, thanks for your kind comment.

Artist's Description

During The Second World War in Britain, many young children were evacuated from the big cities and sent into more rural areas to live with complete strangers, to save them from the German bombing raids. This little girl was at a re-enactment event and she was dressed in the style of the 40's. Note the label on her coat, which would have her name on and the address of the place she was going to and coming from. She is also hugging her favourite Teddy bear and carrying her little case with all her belongings in.

About Brian Tarr

Brian Tarr

I guess I'm really a frustrated artist. I used to paint in pastels mainly, my favourite subjects being wildlife, portraits and realism and I have always been interested in photography. Then shortly after I retired I discovered Photoshop and realised that I could paint the pictures I saw in my mind digitally and I have been following the "Photo Art" direction ever since. I have recently embraced AI art and now most of my images are created in Midjourney, Photoshop and Topaz . I like all forms of Art, Abstract, photo realistic, Portrait, Landscape etc but my favourite is in Wildlife. Outside of my family and creating art, my main interests are music and Liverpool FC.
